FROM THE INCLUSION TEAM
The Inclusion Team will meet on July 9 to continue discussion about the implementation of four projects. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting.
Work on some of these efforts has just begun. If any of the following projects are of interest to you please contact Gail Carlson.
- Creating a discussion guide for the book Mad Honey written by Jennifer Finney Boylan and Jodi Picoult. The guide will be used for a future book study at The Oasis
- Establishing and maintaining a lending library of books related to inclusion and diversity.
- Working with Rev. Rushan to plan an inclusion/diversity focused worship service on a quarterly basis. Since June is Pride Month, the first service is tentatively being planned for June 25.
- Increasing our community involvement in inclusion and diversity issues. This might include such efforts as creating a pamphlet, identifying organizations we can partner with, sponsoring the showing of a film, offering a program for parents, grandparents and allies of LGBTQ+ individuals or other ideas generated by the team.
INCLUSION TEAM WISH LIST
The inclusion team is setting up a small lending library and we have a wish list.
- A small side table
- A table or floor lamp
- A small rug
- A couple of comfortable chairs
- And of course books that focus on inclusion, diversity and supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and their families
If you have items to donate or want to make a cash donation so we can purchase items please contact Kathy Sheridan at yevele_me@yahoo.com.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF JEFFERSON CITY NEEDS YOU!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City is in desperate need of Volunteers to help make a difference in the life of a youth in our community!
There are two programs in which you can serve as a Volunteer: the Community-based Program, or the School-based Program. Each only asks for 1- 2 hours of your time a week to spend time with a youth ages 6-14 and serve as a positive role-model for a child.
